I once heard someone say "The salary they pay you is the bribe to make you forget your dreams". I had to sit and really think deeply about this. There is some truth to this statement, at least from my experience. At my previous office job, I clearly remember God telling me "Do not get comfortable here". I knew I heard the Holy Spirit, but unfortunately I was not obedient. For that entire year and a half, I gave very little attention to my skills and gifts. I got so caught up in getting a bi-weekly paycheck, busy helping someone else to build their dream (this was a family owned and operated company) that I lost sight of my own. The minute I left that job I started feeding my energy and put full time commitment into rebuilding my brand and business.
I have nothing against working for someone to earn a living, because I did it for almost half my life, but that is never Gods highest and best for you.
The Most High God is the one who blessed us with the creativity, skills, talents, and resources to get and create that wealth. With that being said you have crafted your skills well, you put in the time and effort, not for you to give top quality work for free. Always remember business and pleasure must NEVER mix. The Proverbs 31 woman knew that she was high value and perfected her craft. She was confident in how valuable she was and did not shorten herself nor lower her standards for anyone. She brought blessings upon her household because of her top quality character and standards. It's highly important to know your true value and your worth so that you will not just accept anything that comes your way. As you set your standards high, God will bring the right clients and customers to your business who will understand the value you and your products/services can bring to them and pay you what you're worth with no issues attached.
Don't ever be afraid of investing in yourself and finding out what is it that God really wants you to do, so that you too can truly experience the Deuteronomy 8:18 covenant.
